Review #3: “Everything Starts With Christmas” (2024) by Baa Baa Sheep Productions

Luckily, this blog is entirely and solely for the purpose of having fun, so I’m allowed to have a 7-month hiatus and then review another Christmas album in the middle of July. Let’s get into it. As a preface, I did listen to this entire album for the first time during ACTUAL Christmastime while I was on a long drive, but then never sat down and wrote a review. In the present day, I’m giving the album a fresh listen on headphones so I can get an alternate audio perspective (listening in a car doesn’t necessarily allow for the sharpest aural experience) and so that I can affirm my opinions of each song individually and the album as a whole. Track 1: Christmas Morning Before I get into it, let me say: I do like this song—once they actually start singing. Review #2: Marketside HOT HONEY HUMMUS

In my opinion, all of the best things in the world come in a 10 oz, ready to eat, resealable container–and all of those best things are hummus. While traditionally a die-hard pine nut hummus girl, recently during a Walmart shopping experience I spotted something unusual while my hand went to grasp my usual hummus of choice: a new flavor had come to that magical corner of refrigerated goods. I have no use for garlic hummus, I am fond (but not overly) of roasted red pepper hummus, but now, HOT HONEY HUMMUS–that, I had to try. (This review is not, unfortunately, sponsored by Walmart.) Hot honey is not a new thing, but it does still feel somewhat like a luxurious item to me. That, combined with the earthy familiarity of all hummuses, made this HOT HONEY HUMMUS quite a treat to experience for the first time. Each flavor in this delightful dip is excellently balanced so that no one flavor overpowers the others. Both the honey and spice levels were exactly right–not so sweet that you feel...

You may be wondering how we got here. As all good things begin, the idea for this blog came because of a boy I think is cute. In this case, said boy is a conductor in his late 20s making the rounds in various articles that are frequently recommended to me by Google. While reading a few reviews of his recent performance at Carnegie Hall, I was struck with wistful jealousy. I realized how much I love reviewing things (something that shouldn’t have been much of a surprise, considering how seriously I take my book reviews on Goodreads). A friend said to me, “Julia, if you like reviewing things so much, you should just start a blog.” And, it turns out, there is no rule that says you can’t just try to do something for a little while because it sounds fun.
